The Agent Brief
R 249
Who it is for. The owner of a small business who wants to hand one real job to an agent and stay in charge. It is written for the owner, not the programmer; the boxes headed “For whoever sets it up” are for whoever connects the tools, you or someone you ask.
Hand your first real job to a Claude agent: pick it, brief it, connect it, check it.
A short, practical book for the owner of a small business. Five chapters, each ending with something to write down, follow one made-up salon, Fern Street, from choosing its first job (booking reminders) to its first month of checks.
Inside
- Pick the job. Four questions a good first job passes.
- Write the brief. The four parts every brief needs: the job and what good looks like, the never list, when it stops and asks, and the proof it leaves.
- Connect the tools. Four rules: never your password, only what the job needs, reading before writing, off in one tap. And what WhatsApp's own rules mean for a reminder.
- Check the work. One minute a day, three spot-checks a week, two strikes, and one receipt you check yourself.
- Ten habits that keep an agent working.
Plus the brief on one page, to fill in on screen or print, and a switch card to keep by the till.
Free with it: The Owner's Toolkit (R149 on its own). Add it to your cart with the book and it costs nothing.
Boxes headed "For whoever sets it up" carry the technical notes for the person who connects the agent. Every outside fact names the page it comes from and the date it was read.
The file. An A5 PDF of 31 pages, a night cover and cream pages, with the brief's lines to type into; plus a white edition for printing at home. The download link arrives by email once payment clears.

Use. Use, print and share it inside your own business and team. No resale, no public posting, no passing it to other businesses. Someone who sets up your agent may read your copy for that work.

From chapter 1 · Pick the job
Your first agent should do one small job, and do it every week. That job decides whether you trust the agent. If the first job goes well, you will hand it the second one with your eyes open. If it goes badly, you will switch it off and tell everyone that agents don’t work. So the first job should be small, frequent and easy to check.
What counts as a job
A job is one piece of work that:
- happens the same way each time,
- starts with something you can point to (a booking, an email, a review), and
- ends with something you can check (a message sent, a reply drafted, an order placed).
“Help with marketing” is not a job. “Every Monday, remind tomorrow’s clients of their booking” is.
