The Owner's Toolkit
R 149
Who it is for. Anyone running one agent in a business: seven pages to fill in, on screen or printed, beside either book or on their own.
Seven tools for running one agent in your business, each a page to fill in, with a filled-in example beside it.
- The job picker: find the first job worth handing over.
- The brief on one page: write the job down so an agent can do it.
- The switch card: decide, for each kind of action, Your yes, Automatic or Never.
- The running-cost sheet: work out what the agent costs to run each month.
- The 30-day tracker: a tick a day for the first month.
- The one-page review: at the end of the month, keep it, change it or stop it.
- The fire drill: switch the agent off on purpose, so you know you can.
The examples follow the Sample Bakery, a made-up bakery whose agent reads the supplier inbox and drafts the week's orders for the owner's yes. The pages work on their own; The Agent Brief explains why each tool works the way it does.
Free with either book. Add the Toolkit to your cart with The Agent Brief or The First Agent and it costs nothing.
The files. An A5 PDF of 19 pages you can type into on screen, and a white edition for printing at home and filling in with a pen. The download link arrives by email once payment clears.
Edition I, 23 October 2026. The running-cost sheet uses Anthropic's prices on that date; the page says so.

The switch card
Every kind of action the agent can take gets one of three switches. Fill in one row for each kind of action, keep the card by the till, and change a switch only on the dates written below.
- Your yes: the agent proposes, and nothing happens until you approve it.
- Automatic: the agent does it alone, within its limits, and tells you after.
- Never: the agent may not do it at all.
Every action starts at Your yes. An action earns Automatic after two full weeks with no mistakes. Two mistakes of the same kind send it back. Anything that moves money stays at Your yes.
The worked example: the Sample Bakery
- Draft an order: Automatic. A draft changes nothing until it is sent.
- Send an order to a supplier: Your yes. It spends money, so it stays here.
- Reply to a supplier’s question: Your yes. Earned Automatic is possible after two clean weeks.
- Order from a new supplier: Never. The owner adds new suppliers herself.
An extract. The full book is a PDF sent by email once your payment clears, with a 14-day refund.
